Torkard Cider

Cider Making

Our ciders are made from 100% fresh-fruit collected every Autumn.

Our cider-making season runs from late-August to mid-December; after this time the cider is left to ferment and mature until ready for sale, usually after April.

Spent pomace - free to those able to collect it.

After pressing the juice out of the apple pulp, we are left with the dry spent apple pulp or pomace. This makes great feed for pigs, cattle, horses, chickens, etc. or it can be composted.

Feel free to contact us if you would like some - free of charge. Come along and take as much or as little as you want. It is ready bagged up - one bag is the result of one pressing. It is stacked ready for collection, we don't need to be in.
